So I had some late night inspiration the other night and the images below show what became of it. :-)
This image shows the full canvas.
I glued a piece of brown paper to one side of the canvas to have a different coloured background and texture to it.
As you can see, I used different shades of brown when painting the background to give it an old theme.
The image above shows the quote I have taken from William Henley's poem Invictus.
I chose to use the last two lines of the poem as I feel they have the most significance.

This image shows how I have layered shades of brown over the top of the black paint.
I did this because when I first wrote the quote on with black paint, it stood out too much from the background. I wanted the quote to blend on more so I layered different colours over the of of it.
