Cupcake Canvas!

I've been asked to make some more canvas' by my mum :-)
She wants two small ones to go in her kitchen and she's asked them to have cupcakes on them.
As my mums kitchen is blue and cream, they are going to be the main colours.
I've also been asked to colour wash the background, so thats what i'm going to start doing before researching images of cupcakes and drawing. I was thinking of making the icing of the cake the focal point, with loads of colour and embellishments.
Keep an eye for pictures when i'm done :-)

I've also sold another ring on my eBay Page, http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/beckykent1990/
and i'm hoping to sell another canvas on there too as someone is watching it :-)

So check out my eBay page to see everything for sale!

Parrot Canvas

As I said previously, I have been asked to make another jungle themed canvas for my nephews bedroom. I mentioned that I was thinking of doing one with a really colourful parrot on it, and I stuck to this idea.

Below are pictures of the finished piece. I feel it has been really successful as it is colourful with the watercolour paints and the embellishments used.
I decided I didnt want to have a boring posed parrot with it just sat on a branch or something, do I went for a drawing of a parrot with its wings spread out in flight.

As you can see, it is very bright and colourful, just what i thought it should be like. :-) so hopefully my sister in law and nephew like it!

Weekend Away

So there hasn't been much posting or craftiness going on lately. So i thought i'd let you know what i've been doing instead.
After finishing all the commissions i've had, i went for a long weekend away visiting family as it was my nephew, Bailey's first birthday last saturday. My family and boyfriend, Craig, also came, so it was a fun couple of days. Me and Craig also decided to go and visit his sister and her fiancee on the way home, so a meal out and drinks were in order there :-)

I've had another commission request from my sister in law whilst we were there, to make another jungle themed canvas for Baileys bedroom, as i have already made two for him. The first had two monkeys on it, one sat on the jungle floor, and another swinging from a tree vine. The second had simba and mufasa on. For the third canvas im thinking of putting a really colourful parrot on, ill show pictures when i finish it.

I also hope to have another large commission coming my way in the near future, involving making invites for someone...

I'll also put some photos of Baileys birthday up soon.

Flower Canvas

I spoke previously about a floral canvas I have been asked to make.
This canvas is for my boyfriends grandma, who asked for something to go in her kitchen. The  requirements were that it had a cranberry theme, to match her oven and to use other colours to match her tiles, which had yellow in them.
I was given two canvas' to work on which were both rectangle on shape.

As you can see from the photo above, I have mixed lots of different media into the canvas.
The fist being paint. I have used acrylic to do the painting of the flowers and leaves.
The second media I used is pen. I have used pen to go around the outline of the flowers and leaves to make them neater.
I have also embellished the painting. To do this I have used sequins and beads.
As a final act of adding detail, I have embroidered more flowers and leaves onto the canvas. I did this using the same colours of embroidery thread as I did in paint.

This image shows the detail in the main flower.

The image above, shows the detail in the middle of the flower.

This is a close-up view of the embroidery on the canvas.

Commission Two

A second commission wich I have been asked to make is a birthday card. It was requested that the card be full of buttons and to have a green theme. Again I have made two cards for the customer to choose form and they both revolve around shapes.

This first one has a green theme throughout, from the card itself to the buttons used.

The second card I have made still has the green theme, but I have also used different coloured buttons. I have glued the buttons on in different sized circles. I added drawn buttons to the card, too so there was more detail.

Commission One

I have recently been asked to make two different items. The first being a ring. The customer wanted it to be like a previous one he already bought off me. I have made two of them for the customer to choose from and they are both similar,
